I ended up with a garden hose where female threads are missing on the compression fitting. Short of using a tap to thread the interior. Are there other simpler ways to introduce a thread for low pressure applications?

I'm thinking JB weld a 5/8 copper fitting or similar. Would appreciate a precise solution though from the experts.

If it was I and you couldn’t return it, I would just buy a female repair end and chop the old fitting off and replace it. Your hose will be about 2” shorter.

Hi Hr_veedu,
If it's not returnable to the store, maybe write to the manufacturer with the photo you posted above. Perhaps they'll send you a new hose free. It's amazing how many companies step up and help out.

Bud16415's idea of a repair end works great. I buy the ones that swivel for easier on-off of the hose bibb. (Believe it or not, some female ends sold don't swivel. I made that mistake once. Only once!)

if you have an old clothes washer hose use it first. it is female by female . so you can now connect you hose

For filling stuff, that's a great idea! But for garden & car washing stuff, hr_veedu would still be funguied because one can't put a nozzle on the supposed to be female end.
