@Ron Van
I am a terrible Christmas tree decorating person. That's a beautiful tree, I love the storage box. I assume you made that?

I am letting my daughter use my tree and decorations this year, i am just going to put my village out I believe.
Yes, I made two. One for us and another for my MIL although she has decided not to put her tree up this year. She says it is too much work for her at 83years old. Ruby just took her to Walmart to get a “skinny” pre-lit tree that will be easier for her and fit better in her space. Ruby has already made plans to sell her old tree but I told her I want to keep the box.

Our tree is 35 years old. The box has done a good job of protecting the tree. There are little wheels on the bottom for rolling it around.

A breath of fresh air, ANYONE?
You are correct! That “S” trap will allow a siphon to occur and suck the water out of the trap. That will allow sewer gas into the restroom. The sad thing is that this is in a restaurant. You would think some official person would catch this. The owner of this establishment must do his/her own plumbing.

It would be incredibly easy to fix correctly.

Finished my porch project today. I finished the electricalon the east end, I did the west end last fall. It took 8 gallons of paint for the whole thing. I put up PVC trim on all of it to replace the wood stuff. A lot of it was rotted. I added 2 wifi outlets to each end ceiling mainly for Christmas lights but possibly an outdoor TV at some point. Also added a box for a ceiling fan on each end to help with the mosquitoes in the summer. I hate painting, also as much as paint prep. 1000011589.jpg1000011590.jpg

I saw this the other day…

It looks like they tried to do the right thing but didn’t understand the physics of plumbing. The drain shouldn’t slope downward more than 1 pipe diameter before hitting the vent. This one does making it an illegal “S” trap. Also, a sanitary Tee shouldn’t be laid horizontally in a drain. That’s only allowed in a dry vent system.
A sanitary tee is permitted horizontally when used as a vent, but not as a drain. One issue is that the vent came AFTER the drain went down. The vent needs to be before or directly on top of the drain. If there is any offset, it would have to be after the vent went up a little and could be no more than 45degree offset until it was at least 4" above the drain OR 6" above the flood level of the fixture. Ideally, the AAV would be higher up, but they often get set lower. Another issue is the shape of the trap. The trap arm needs to be straight and then have a vent. They could have used a horizontal tailpipe with trap adapter and turned that elbow facing left, had the sanitary tee oriented vertically, had the vent directly on top of the drain and used a 1/8 bend to get it out from under the sink and had it 6" above flood level. Although, they might have had to do some different angles with a horizontal piece to make sure it was long enough to not create a crown vent. Trap arm needs to be at least 2x pipe diameter long.

Additionally, suction from the syphon could rupture the diaphragm in the AAV.

We haven't done Xmas decorations for a very very long time.

68bucks, beautiful columns! Too bad I'm not near you. I like painting.

I've offered to paint at the house my friend is trying to buy. He found another one that was in better shape and more land and owner isn't a dick. After he paid for the inspection/appraisal at the other house the seller reneged. Can't remember if I mentioned that. But he found one just outside town that doesn't have city tax. Has almost 2 acres, a barn, a workshop, a storage shed, 2 car carport, 4 bed 3 bath. Roof replaced in 2018. Septic tank sucked in August. It has a mechanical effluent system and motor was recently replaced on the pump. Its closer to his work. Seller is willing to work with him on stuff.

AC people came out today on time. I was in the front room spraying febreeze when the guy knocked. Took a couple hours but they got it all in and it's cooling. Down to 75. It's 78 outside. When they first cranked the AC back on it was 88 inside. The cats seem much more comfortable. I know I'm more comfortable.

Still need to install the 2nd grille and cover up the hole in bro's room when we take old grille out.

Resting for a bit though.

Good Job! Looks real nice.

Agree

To be clear, an AAV doesn't have to be above the flood plane. Oatey specifies 4" above the trap arm

Studor also specifies 4"

The OS&B V-200 specifies 6"

Yeah, specs say they can be minimum 4" above the drain but ideally they would be 6" above the flood level- if possible. If there was any backup water could fill the AAV if it is lower than that. The fact that they are allowed to be 4" is why they are banned in many places. Mostly in houses. But they are generally allowed in trailers.

I still remember seeing a really horrible plumbing job at my friend's grandfather's house where they punched some bricks out, ran the vent pipe out and up a few inches and then slapped an AAV on top. They didn't even seal up around the hole-- and this was an exterior wall so they put an AAV outside. If they were going to do a vent outside they could have run it taller and then done some elbows to get around the eaves. But that plumber was super lazy.

It is now down to 74 degrees inside. It's so much nicer.

Any chance you can get your money back?
Sadly, No. They came out for the call, used 6lbs of refrigerant, and then located the general area of the leak and diagnosed the problem. I'm technically outside of their service area. They can't take the leaked refrigerant back. Wish he had checked for leaks before filling it up entirely though.
How do they know this? Isn’t your vote supposed to be secret?

Exit polls. They ask people as they are leaving the polling location how they voted. Some tell the truth, some lie, some decline to answer. So they aren't very accurate. I never trust opinion polls because they only take a small sampling.

Went into town and roads were not as badly flooded anymore. Took my brother to get his blood drawn for routine tests. Stopped at post office, went to Walmart to grab some stuff to cook but forgot to grab some things. Went to friend's house to drop off something and played with Kelebrimbor. Friend was working on the bathroom across the street but popped in briefly to chat. Fed the kittens, went back to walmart for stuff we forgot, grabbed takeout from a local place (beef stew with rice), headed home and Mom was out. Shared some beef stew with the dogs and played some hidden object/puzzle games. Mom finally woke up a few minutes ago and I need to go grab some food out of the air fryer for her.

Exit polling. There has never been anybody asking people here who they voted for, but I assume it's like regular phone polling, only in Blue areas. That's why they were wickedly wrong in 2016 and 2024.

Answered before I saw Z's reply...

They sometimes have people outside polling places stopping people and asking them, but sometimes they call and ask. I've never been asked and I wouldn't answer anyway.

I forgot to mention that my brakes started to go out yesterday. They briefly stopped working and I had to pump them to get them to work. Took the truck in to the tire shop first thing this morning. My new brake pads that were put on in August were already worn down on the front. Well, worn down is an understatement. The front passenger one was gone and the caliper was shredded because the rotor was jammed. I wondered why it wouldn't stop making noise and why "check ABS" error kept popping up. So, need new rotor, new caliper, new brake pads. Additionally, a nut was crossthreaded and the stud broke. So need new stud. Only $2/ea and friend said to get all 5 done for that wheel. Additionally, the wheelbearing popped out AGAIN and the tire had almost fallen off. Oh, and tires were so bald the wires were showing through. Tire shop is taking care of everything except the tires (bc their tires are over $200 for the all terrain ones and I found some American made tires from Walmart for $124/ea). I'm going to make sure to keep the one newer non-A/T tire for a spare. With labor, the repairs at the shop will be over $400 but they are only charging like $50 for labor. The tires are $600 including installation and taxes.

And I still need to get the VSA checked/fixed, the DRL (daytime running lights) fixed, get the stupid piece of plastic that hangs down in front of the front driver wheel either cut off or tacked back up (it drags on the ground and makes a lot of noise), tailgate fixed, headliner in back seat fixed, arms and center console upholstery fixed (place that worked on it before spilled paint thinner on the PU leather and it started peeling. Also need exterior paint on the truck fixed. At the very least I need some primer to prevent rust.

Also been looking in to battery backup generators. I see Anker has some that can use solar panels to charge when power is out. I'm wondering if those are any good. I was watching a Perkins Builder Brother's episode where the main brother was showing off his breaker panel and the Anker portable generator. Pretty neat.

Got home and cooked for Mom with the air fryer.

I caught a couple of Mice with my traps, one died and I released the other in the wood pile... The one probably died and the other decided not to return because I let the Cats run around the garage for a few hours before I cleared the traps.

The one Mouse knows there is Monsters in the garage, so it moved on. I usually put trash bags right in the Truck, but I left one on the garage floor, and it hasn't been chewed for 4 days, so I'm Mouse free. Now I have to figure out how they got in.

They sell peppermint scented trash bags, although they have some other odor to them, but they are meant to repel mice and vermin. I got some for Mom to use in the living room.

A container of peppermint oil from Amazon that went missing finally arrived after I'd already replaced it. I don't mind being charged for both since I got both of them and will use them.

Power went out for about 5minutes earlier but fortunately came back on. Been talking to my friend about his plans for the new house if he manages to get it. The seller is known to be reliable. I may be more mad at the seller that reneged on the deal with my friend than my friend is. He got all the info needed on what needs to be fixed to pass inspection and what the value is and stuff for free bc my friend paid and then he refused to sell him the house.

Just got food for Mom, fed kitties, and refilled floor waterer for kittie.s Found out Rupert is the one who drags the waterer into the middle of the floor. Even when it is full he has derp strength and can drag it. He keeps pulling it closer to himself instead of just leaning in to it.

I would think this is a highly unreliable method of gathering data. They make it sound like”Matter- of-Fact” but it’s worse than a guess.

I think I’d be more than a little upset if 3 months after having my brakes serviced they started having serious problems like that. But that’s why I do my own brake jobs.

I’ve been looking for tires for our Prius C. The Walmart Prinx tires are half the price of tires at other places. Are they any good? Walmart can’t do alignments though. My SIL got some Walmart tires and he is happy with them.

We have a solar panel on top of our motorhome. It’s about 2’x3’ and I think it produces 150watts (going by memory). Our batteries will power our lights and TV all night no problem but the panel won’t charge the batteries back up in a day. I had to supplement the charge with the generator. The stove is propane powered and so is the water heater.
