Just finished week 3 of my Detox diet (Rice and Lentils), although I cheated last night and made Broccoli Chicken. It's a real lonely diet since nobody I know including my entire family wants to do it. I know, it completely shocks me also that there is no takers on the 7 week Rice and Lentils diet.

It's real fun figuring out how long the rice takes to cook, and after that... Well, that's pretty much it for the fun part...

I remember reading decades ago that people in African tribes have extremely fast digestion, like 45 minutes fast... The people with the language like this... Um bok cha cha wok wok click click click nok nok nok nok... That's roughly translated to "Stupid American, Rice and Lentils not Paleo"...

But, their Paleo diet works, I mean way out, deep back people that have never heard of America or Mickey D's or anything else that can toxify their system. They have the perfect diet, and I guarantee no cavities.

So, I figured if I was going to cheat, I would test my digestion with Sesame Seeds... My digestion is working perfect, as last night's Broccoli Chicken is mostly not with me anymore... AND... It didn't stink. After 3 weeks of detoxing the guts / liver / kidneys, the general finding is the bathroom visits don't stink because there's nothing going in that's toxic.

I want to ditch the Rice and Lentils for a Paleo version of the detox, using the same herbs and teas, which I will do soon.

I also ate a lot of Apricots for the fiber benefit, which is a very cool life lesson to learn... If you ever think "Boy, I wish I had that couch to myself" before a big game or whatever you like to watch, just chew down 20 dried Apricots a few hours before and there is a chance you will never ever have a problem telling people to move again!

Mom is not easy to stick for IVs. A trained nurse in ICU had to try 5x to get an IV in. Also, I have a psychosomatic reaction to needles and veins. I literally get throbbing pains in my hands, arms, & legs even thinking about it. It's downright bizarre.

Mom stayed up later than I did last night but then we had thunderstorms and Princess kept climbing all over me and kept waking me up.
zannej, your probably not going to like this, but---------------.
zannej, its well that you are taking an active interest in your mom's wellbeing, however, it sounds as though you've relegated yourself back to allowing your mom, to manage her healthcare, and expecting different results.

If your mom's CGM doesn't transmit to your phone, WHY NOT?

There are 3 thing that are adjustable and need to be actively monitored; medications, carbohydrates and activity.

Why, other than abstinence, would, YOU, allow your mother to reject a nurse to visit, to monitor and advise, in your mothers care?

You are aware that the visits can be, at your discretion, scheduled?

My mom passed at 101, with all her teeth, rice and lentils were seldom included in her rwepitware, however brushing 3 times a day was.

My mother is stubborn and she still has enough of her marbles to be legally competent. While she has deferred to me on some of her care, she's an adult and I can't make her do things against her will.

I loaded the Dexcom app on my phone and it wouldn't work. Also, it has to be within 20ft and my room is too far away to reach. So I am planning to get some sort of monitoring system so I will be able to hear her Dexcom go off.

I've been trying to get her to go to physical therapy but she doesn't like being physically active. She's hated it her whole life and has been overweight since she was 22 yrs old. She admitted to me that she is "too lazy" to want to do physical therapy and I can't force her to go. I also can't make her eat things she doesn't want to eat. I can cook for her and bring food for her, but if she refuses to eat it, I can't force her.

I live in her house so I don't get to tell her she can't reject a home healthcare nurse. I legally don't have a say in the matter. We've been burned in the past with people coming in and stealing from us so she doesn't trust people. She also doesn't like people. She's a bit on the antisocial side.

Any visits would be at HER discretion, not mine.

I'm not saying I'm totally powerless, but I have to coax her into things and it can be difficult. If I bulldoze over her, it will only lead to problems. She's like my brother and is stubborn and will dig in heels to refuse to do things if she feels she's being forced.

She actually manages her medications pretty well on her own (aside from the insulin). She has a schedule and routine for them but I will try to get to know more about what she takes and when.

I made breakfast for her this morning, brought in some stuff from the truck, organized some stuff in my bathroom a little bit, and put a 2nd coat of primer on the door.

I need to go up to HD to pick up some stuff for curbside orders as well as get mail.

I understand how frustrating your situation can be, however, at what point, as measured by failures and recurrences, do you get some legal assistance?

I view, "but what if", reasons for not availing oneself of a service, which may avoid an emergency, as little more than a convenient excuse.

Also, if you have bluetooth available, the DEXCOM receiver, as I've been informed, has a setting which allows the readings to be forwarded to your devise, as well as a healthcare professional.

Looks like this Maytag Dishrinser* that just turned 4 is going to be put down soon... Can't wipe Peanut Butter off a spoon if it's life depended on it... On a positive note though, I found a way to keep it shut with a pencil I haven't used since the Covid Lumber Scam of 2020...

* Not to be confused with the antiquated and no longer in existence "Dishwasher" that cleaned things you put in them, circa 1990's...

Havasu, the outdoor shower is looking good! Did I see dog pawprints in the concrete in front of the step stool?

Friend ended up not being able to go because his wife was violently ill. Pregnancy is not being kind to her. I grabbed a couple of things from Samsclub. They had some CAT brand tie downs that we can use when the freezer comes in. Also got Chinese takeout so that should help with getting Mom to eat some veggies for a few days. She loves the green beans from there.

She was up pretty early this morning and first requested help with something on her computer and then later was hungry so I made breakfast for her. I racked out hard for a nap afterward. I'm semi-awake now. We still need to figure out something with her computer again. She got logged out of everything and her main credit card's site is giving her trouble on getting logged back in.

I need to figure out which white paint I want to use for my bathroom door. Either Behr or Killz. The Behr stuff isn't cheap, but I can still get more of it. They no longer sell the particular Killz paint and I was planning to paint the cabinets with it. So, I might hold off on a final coat of paint. I might even go with a blue color, but we'll see. I still need to figure out all of the measurements for the cabinets I'm going to build. I've decided that since I want custom sizes I'll have to build them myself. I'm going to use French cleats to help mount them to the wall and then reinforce with screws. I need to take some measurements when my brain is cooperating.

That is a funny story. The previous owners of this house had a Jack Russell terrier. Sweet little rat dog, but they didn't take care of him. He was alone in the backyard for years. The owner poured concrete on that side of the house, and I guess the rat terrier decided to get his 10 minutes of fame. His paw prints are everywhere embedded in the concrete. They offered him to me when I purchased the house, but they pissed me off so bad I told them to take the dog and GTFO of my house. Ugly first day moving in here.

The guy who did the concrete at our house told me that if there was a dog or cat within 10 miles of freshly poured concrete, they would come step in it. Sounds like the sellers were jerks. Feel bad for the poor terrier. When we bought this place the previous owners left their pets behind without even asking. One of them was a cat named Shelly who had cancer. Poor thing was so sweet but didn't last long with the giant tumor. We took her to the vet and did our best to care for her.

Now I'm curious about what else the sellers did to piss you off.

I'm trying to decide what paint to use on my door as the final coat (well, before I put clear poly on it). Trying to remember what kind of poly won't turn yellow over time. And I need to find a cleaner that is safe to use on my Mustee Durawall shower to keep it from yellowing that won't damage it.

A story for another day. Let's just say he was a lazy, dope smuggling POS, who used this house as a brothel, while keeping his wife and 3 daughters in a home 2 miles away. Used condoms strewn about the house, house wasn't cleaned up, refused to leave the house, refused to allow me to deliver my furniture. Refused to allow painters inside after agreeing to it. I finally threatened him with calling the police and asking him to either be arrested of leave immediately. Let's just say that the 4 police officers who helped me move in that day, threw his stuff into a pile on the front lawn, then changed the locks.

I have wondered for a long time how Jesus was so calm all the time, with one exception at the temple, that's the only time he kind of lost it. I accept this as truth because there is no counterpoint to that, no movies depicting him as a horrible person.

So, I just assume his blood pressure must have been 100 / 70, perfect everything else etc., and he was probably stoned a lot. "Just chillin here, follow me and chill man... Just chill a lot, grab a Coffee and roll one up"...

He was just relaxed until pretty much the end, despite the mental and physical abuse he took constantly... How could someone be that "even keeled" on Earth?

Then I figured it out.

He didn't own any

F%$^$^$(*%$%

Cats!!!!!!

There's more to the story? So you bought sight unseen?

So, you'd have us, with untrained eyes, to believe that given your history in law enforcement, there isn't the remotes possibility/probability, that you might have asked the local constabulary about suspected illegal events locally, and having been thusly alerted, you ask if more frequent drive-by were possible, maybe a periodic park and surveil?

Than with some cursory knowledge depicted, with a substantially reduced offer?

And while prepping your rice & lintels, and watching reruns of I love Lucy, you'd have us believe, the cats distracted you, and you boiled all the nutrients from those rice and lintels?

Yeesh. Havasu, that sounds even worse than my deadbeat tenants who initially refused to move out and get their stuff out and then broke back in and busted the doorframe to come steal stuff after I changed the locks. Figured out they made copies of the keys and they'd been coming in and taking stuff before I changed the locks. Stuff would be missing or moved. Found the cats outside and only way they could get out is if someone opened the door (that was before we had a pet door). They were into drug dealing too. I had to chase off some of their customers with a rifle when they came to my door and refused to leave.

I got up early, made breakfast for Mom, cleaned my shower, and am relaxing until its time to go to my doctor appointment for a regular checkup.

We drove by the house 20 times. Never saw anyone here. I asked the neighbors who the bad guys were in my hood, and they said it was the owners of this house. The realtors were related to the owner, were caught lying on the documents and falsifying the termite report. I quickly got that corrected when I threatened to disclose this info. After moving in, other neighbors said he got 5 years for selling 20 kilos of meth. I now know this house was in his parents name so is couldn't be seized under asset forfeiture.
