out-door faucet leaking. can't remove valve

turns out the culprit was a non brass thin washer that had rusted and embedded itself in the opening. I put the handle back on sprayed with wd 40. With a bit of pressure was able to unscrew it and get the valve stem assembly out. Next issue tried to unscrew the bolt at the bottom of assembly to...

out-door faucet leaking. can't remove valve

outdoor faucet is leaking out the handle and faucet opening. Want to replace both washers in the valve. Took off the handle and bonnet/packing nut. Go to unscrew the valve and can't get it out. It unscrews all the way till it gets to the opening. The opening in the faucet doesn't seem big enough...

Underground PVC drain pipes pulled apart.

My thought would be to excavate back about 3 feet from where it pulled apart and cut the pipe right there. Then flip it around (after sliding on a coupling) and attach the bell end to where I had just cut. This will give it some flexibility for aligning of the now 2 non-bell ends. Thinking I...

Underground PVC drain pipes pulled apart.

Thanks for your response. How would you slide this onto the pipe? The bell end (3.375 OD) is about 1/4 " below the non bell end (3.25 O.D.). Currently both pipe ends are not moveable to align. I actually bought that 3"quick plumb product (3.50 I. D). you have pictured. I.D was too big for the...

Underground PVC drain pipes pulled apart.

Noticed a cavity forming next to my sidewalk. Pulled some turf away and discovered that my underground downspout drain pipes had pulled away from each other at a connection. This is cheap crap 3" D2729 PVC pipe. Very hard to find parts for this.I did find a coupling for this particular pipe but...

    Concrete block basement wall cracks

Getting different ideas from various basement contractors. The most professional one so far seems to be Total Foundation Solutions. They actually measured how out of plumb the walls are. One wall is leaning in 1 inch another one leans in 3/4 inch. The other 2 are plumb. They suggested using...

WOW , congrats on doing an awesome job. Thanks for your input. One of the contractors I spoke with mentioned something similar to that. Break the floor at intervals , 4 inch I-beam etc.

    Concrete block basement wall cracks

Also the gap I noticed between the sill plate and foundation is probably from the basement wall leaning inward. yikes

    Concrete block basement wall cracks

The cause is hydraulic pressure from water, I believe. Builder cut a lot of corners. Did'nt install an outside drain tile run to daylight. Also not backfilled properly with stone. Showed this to a masonry /basement contractor yesterday. He has a unique perspective on the houses (big...

    Concrete block basement wall cracks

Put a 4-foot level over the crack horizontally, yes there is definitely a noticeable hump at the crack. Ran the level horizontally, definitely leaning inward but not really as bad as horizontally.

Sill plate hovering 1/2 inch over foundation

upon further review, the sill is resting on the concrete block foundation, kind of. the sill has just turned up on the side facing out and was not nailed good to the band joist. Just general poor workmanship. Not noticing a breeze but will still insulate that gap. Thanks everyone and sorry for...
